Sometimes a friend hurts more then they help.
The Ox & the Bird was my second year film at CalArts. After finishing Updog, I gained significantly more confidence in my ability to make an animated film from beginning to end. My main goal with my BFA2 film was to step out of my comfort zone. I tend towards comedy in my work, and this was a film that was not meant to be at all comedic. It explored a topic that was very personal to me and my own experiences, and as such I felt very vulnerable putting it out there. I am very glad that I did, as I think that experience has made me more confident to put pieces of myself in my work.
